SA G.I model

Howdy everyone. I haven't been around here in quite a while. I got back into my 4x4 world, and bought another truck, but that's a story for a different day.

I've been buying and selling a few guns, and think it's time to pick up a 1911. I've never owned one, and I don't want to break the bank on a a custom piece just yet.

I was thinking a G.I model with 4" barrel would suit my needs for concealed carry sometimes, and plinking around in the desert.

Thoughts? Is there another brand/model that may suit me better?

The S.A. GI model is a great base model gun. There is a hefty following here on the board for the Rock Island Arms base model as well.

My only dislike of either is the sights...very small...otherwise, either are economical and tough as a brick!

I considered buying a 1911 a few months ago and was either going to get the Springfield GI or the RIA, and had decided to get the RIA. I never got either, but look into the RIA as well. IIRC Frenchy was the one who convinced me that RIA was the one to choose.
