Is it really hard to find a Springfield ultra compact?

I'm looking into buying a springfield ultra compact for my ccw. I've read several reviews and some state they have been searching for this gun for years.

Is this true or should my gunshop be able to order one from springfield? I've called a few and none of them have one in stock.

I tried to have my gun shop order one. Springfield told then they needed to go through a distributor. I trust these guys, but sometimes they're slackers/
I was waiting for at least 6 months with no end in sight.

I stumbled onto one last week at another store in the area.

It's been 100% reliable through 400+ rounds, except for TAP.
Speer GDHP worked flawlessly for HP's. WWB, Blazer Brass, Independence and Aquila have all worked perfectly.

I wanted to fondle one before buying so I shied away from buying online.

Good luck, if you decide to get one.

A buddy of mine just recently located a SA Champion that he had been searching months for. He contacted SA and they told him that it was not currently in production and that they would not be producing anymore until next year. Not sure how true this is but when he found one he jumped all over it. Again just going off of hear say, so not totally sure how true it is.

I have one, but I got it a few years ago.

There definatly seems to be something going on with SA.

If you go to www.galleryofguns.com and do a search for Springfield 1911 .45's they don't have Shyte, and it's been that way for at least a year or so.
I had heard a RUMOR (a while ago) that they're workers in Brazil were on strike or something, but I don't know.

The store where I bought my Operator had three EMPs in the case. Don't remember the price, though.

Not hard to find at all. I just open the safe and there it is. Seriously though, I picked mine up used at a Gander Mountain about a year and a half ago (for a great price I might add). I saw a new one at a gun show a few months later and I haven't seen one anywhere since. I assume you're referring to the stainless loaded version. A few years prior to that I had a SA Mil-Spec Ultra Carry. I've never seen another one of those. Sold it to a co-worker.
Blackwater, that's a Micro-Compact you've got there, not an Ultra-Compact.
If this is the one you're looking for, good luck.
