Question for Dan Wesson CBOB owners.

Do you own a different 1911? I have a DW CBOB .45 and it is my first 1911 and .45 pistol. A friend of mine let me try his STI Spartan and I noticed it has less recoil compared to the DW. I was wondering if that has to do with the barrel length?

Just about anytime you add weight to a gun, whether it's barrel/slide length, heavier guide rod, whatever, you're going to feel less recoil. You'd feel even more if you shot a 4" Kimber CDPII Pro because it's lighter with it's alloy frame.

I have a CBOB and feel just the opposite. I think it has low felt recoil for a gun this size. I also have and shoot a full size Colt 1911 and an XD45 4". Again this is perceived recoil. To me the recoil of my XD is much snappier and it's harder to get back on target. Then again the CBOB fits my hands just right. I shoot my CBOB better than any pistol I have ever owned.

The XD45 is lighter and the slide/barrel sit higher above your hand than they do with a 1911. It's physics.

Were ya'll both using the same ammo? Last time I went out I had one box of WWB and Blazer and the Blazer felt like it had a slightly stronger kick to it.
