Guide rod??
Is it possible for a 1911 (Kimber Custom Covert II, for example) to function w/ the guide rod in upside down? I know this is a very dumb question, but I don't really know and was curious. Like say someone put the guide rod in upside down could you even pull the slide back? Sry guys for the whack noob ? but I just had to asy b/c I was not going to ask Kimber and really feel like a Jack A$$. Thanks JOE>
P.S. I did not do this to the Kimber it is just fine @ home in its case safe and sound.

The guide rod in my government model has a rounded cut into it where it rides on the barrel...I don't think it would fit the other way around.

Some guns use a guide rod with rounded base but 1911's need a U notch to fit to the back of the frame.

After I got home I took it apart and looked @ the tolerances, they were pretty tight I do not think you can put it in there any other way (and the gun still work) than it was designed. JOE>

I do not think so...it has a barrel link pin right?? If you put it in upside down the link pin could not ever line up with the takedown notch.. I do not even see how you could do it. Floyd
