What you wound up with pretty well represents what I consider the ideal 'fighting 1911'- everything you need and nothing you don't.

Nice corn-sheller- congratulations. I can't wait to hear how it shoots.

Yeah, alot of people put money into their 1911's finish or beavertails, fancy sights, guide rods, slide serrations and other external doo dads. You know...making it look cool...like it belongs on the cover of Guns & Ammo.

I have always made sure my 1911s have a good trigger and were ultra reliable FIRST. Then, I only add whats necessary to make it a comfortable shooter. Good springs, extractors, magazines and polishing up the internals is about as far as I have had to go, really. Different grips, too, but again, thats for comfort/function as well.

None of my 1911s have beavertails, full guide rods, lowered ejection ports or ambi safeties and they work fine.

I'll bet your Sistema/M1911 shoots great. You put the money on the inside...where it counts.

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to it. Hell, it may replace my current carry gun........I'm head over heels in love with it.

The Argentinians bought the steel for their Sistemas from Sweden. If you have handeld a Swedish Mauser, you know that Swedish steel is of VERY high quality. So much so that when the Swedes adopted the 96 Mauser action from Mauser of Germany, they insisted on making the rifles out of Swedish steel and eventually moved M96 production from Germany to Sweden. The steel used to build Sistemas was bought from Sweden at about the same time.

The Sistemas are made from high quality steel. You have chosen a great platform to build from.

(somebody started a story about Argie Sistemas being built from salvaged steel from the German battleship the Graff Spree...but it is not true...I don't know WHERE that BS came from!)

Well, hopefully I'll get by the range this weekend. I've been swamped all week. I'm excited.

Went to the range the other day. Only put two mags through it, needs a little fine tuning yet, however, it shot amazing. I'll be taking it back out this week, I hope, so a full range report and targets to follow.

dejavu

I also rec'd a Colt/Sistema from my dad this year, he got it from an army armorer. it came with all the original stuff and 4 spare magazines, a Rand barrel and slide and a Hartford barrel and slide, has lots of nicks in it but I plan on adding some crimson trace laser grips as I can't aim well enough with the thin blade original sights and I don't want to change anything I can't put back later, most likely some internal spring replacement, haven't gotten to shoot it yet, can't ask Dad how it shot, died of cancer earlier this year, that's how I got a bunch of guns. Trying to post an image, it is very close in production to yours.
