You'll love it when you're done. They can be made very, very slick.

I bought my old beater Sistema for 225 bucks a long time ago and it had some reliability issues, so I started small on the internals and worked my way until I had a 1911 that fed and functioned and was 100% safe..then I stopped messing with it. Like an old faded pair of jeans...it feels good and I can count on it.

I take it out now and then and shoot it. Granted, its not as accurate as my Combat Commander or Springfield GI, but it is older and definately saw a harder life.

Most Sistemas I have ever seen have led a hard life. I have never seen one that I would even remotely call "very good" condition. The South Ameircans used them to death. The Sistemas actually have an interesting past and other than the rare Norweigian M1914s, they were the only licensed Colt 1911 clones ever built.

Another great thing about Sistemas is that every new part I ordered fit right in with little alteration. The Argentines built very close to Colts specs and these were fine pistols. I read somewhere that the Argies bougt Swedish steel to make these pistols from. That would explain their hardness and high quality.

You wanna see worn?

Anyway, it's your Dad's. Replace the internals, send it to Birdsong and get everything coated, and shoot the crap out of it.....

Wow...suddenly mine does not look so worn out. Thats a very early one as well.

Does that one have any army or police markings? Mine has Buenes Aires Policia markings.

Buenes Aires is the capitol city of Argentina. A very beautiful country I'd love to see someday.

Mine's pretty new, just worn thin. Roll marks almost gone on the other side. I've got more in it than a new STI, and I still have to get it coated.
