Para or SA
I just got back from the gun store and I am up in the air about my new 1911. They have a nice SA GI Champion for $550. It may be a little pricey but they have always done me right on any gun problem even if not from them. They also have a used range gun that according to their records - and they showed me the books - has only been rented 8 times in the last year. It is a Para PXT LDA 3.5 for only $700. Both prices are after tax too.
I was going for the SA but the Para is such a good price with all the nice stuff already on it. Forget to add. I can make payments to them which helps out alot. Here's a pic.

Para Pro's
1 Accurate as any full sized 1911. 2 Reliable right out of the box 3 Great looking 4 Great handling Para's Cons 1 Fragile parts 2 spotty Quality 3 Customer service on again off again 4 Poor magazines Springer pro's 1 Good quality 2 great customer service 3 good accuracy 4 good looks Springer cons 1 May take a couple of hundred rounds to break in My money would be on the Springer just because I owned one of those LDA CCW's and it was a POS and I got a run around with the service dept. Friends dont let friends shoot Para's

Ask Rdub, he has a few of them Barely Ordnance Limp D#$% Action guns!
Seriously, either will do fine for you and you can upgrade either one. My $$ would go to the Springfield. |

Well I did alot of reading and it seems that either the Para is going to break or its not. With it being used I believe it is well enough broke in and its not going to break. So I went down and talked to them. They dropped it down to $650 and will take payments. Plus when its all done I am going to pick up the SA from them as well. Best of both. I have always liked the SA but after holding this it feels good. Earlier this week I cut my R index finger and got stitches. After they heal I will go in and shoot it, if I don't like it the money down will be transfered to the SA.

Para's will break then they'll fix them , they'll be good for a while then break again, then Para will start blaming you and threaten to not cover repairs, then you get pissed and ditch it onto the next sucker and hope you dont loose your ass on resale. But its your money.

As current owner of 4 para's and having shot countless rounds through them, I'd get the Para over the springer anyday. I've had absolutely zero issues with my para's save for one incident in which the mag floorplate blew out and para sent me 2 replacements no questions asked.
The para LDA trigger is a work of art and silky smooth. I've not found a better feeling trigger save for some that have had extensive and costly custom work done on them and none better that were double action. Accuracy is phenomenal with the para. They are a bit on the heavy side which lends to it's manageability but I will say if you have small hands, the double stack models may not be for you. |

Para's don't deserve the reputation they seem they have, IMHO.
I own a Para C7-45 and had a couple minor issues with it that Para fixed immediately (none of this sitting in the shop waiting to be fixed like many other manufacturers when doing warranty work)...I mean they rec'd the gun on Tuesday and had it shipped back out on Wednesday kind of turn around! I love that pistol you show and hope to own one some day...and at $650 it is the deal of the week. You will truly enjoy shooting the LDA trigger and will dislike ALL other triggers after shooting it. (I own a high dollar S&W 1911 that I cannot love because of the trigger it came stock with). People pay big money to get their triggers smoothed out, and Para delivers it to you like that right from the box! Get the Para, don't listen to the nay sayers, you won't be sorry.

Well I also did some reading on the 1911 forums. I think the Para will be a fine gun. I am still going to be getting the SA but after the Para. There is room in the safe for both and really can you have to many 1911's
Now after I get the Para we will see how it does and if it will replace my pf-9 as a daily carry. |
