Question Para Ord. LDA Trigger?

Hello All, does anyone own a Para Ord. with the LDA trigger? I have been wondering if this trigger setup is as good as I have read in the gun Magazine reviews, but I don't have a lot of faith in gun mag reviews as the gun manufactures are also customers of the gun mags. How does it compare to the trigger on the XD? Any owner opinions are greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I have the limited single stack. The trigger is super smooth. Much smoother than any of my XD's (all stock triggers).

The limited trigger also felt smoother than some of the other para models I tried. But the other models were not broken in and I was just dry firing.

Sadly, the Para gets about the same respect from die hard 1911 guys as the XD gets from Glockers.

I don't think they have good QC, and that is why their rep is what it is IMO. I had a friend who got a LDA and within the first firing session all 5 of his magazines broke. I would have had a hard time beliving it had I not watch it happened. I've seen many Paras work great for year and seen far too many slides and frames crack, parts out of spec, ect. Everyone who makes guns has stuff that fails from time to time, but the number of Paras I've personally seen go south are way too high for my taste.

Bullseye. I have a LDA 1640. I will spare the two page description of everything which has gone wrong with it, and add a summary:

George Wedge was kind enough to give me parts to replace the ones which failed for free, and I appreciated that.

Jay Krauter (their factory service master) replaced every part in the gun behind the trigger when it developed a light strike reliability problem. Since mine was not covered under warranty, that was very nice of him.

My two engineering degrees say this:

The LDA design is overly ambitious, complicated, and essentially tries to cram ten pounds of manure into a two pound sack.

The quality of the piece parts is poor, the trigger bar looks like it is stamped from a beer can.

I liked shooting the gun, but spent at least 50 hours gunsmithing it including recutting the feed ramp to get it to feed and rebuilding the trigger section many times. It still will occasionally fail to reset the trigger and I have no idea why.

I assume most Para's are not as bad as mine or they would be out of business. But I recommend sticking with JMB's perfection when you buy a 1911.

I have only fired the Limited and use mostly shooting star mags. Maybe Para pays a great deal more attention to the Limited build? I did notice the other models I handled didn't have nearly the same fit & finish as the Limited.

My experience exactly piss poor QC broken parts and the customer service while passable was nothing like you described, Unfortunately I never had a chance to deal with George Wedge but I did with that Para Jay dick I think he got mad when I demanded my money back. Almost $800 for a gun I was afraid to take to the range much less carry in its intended use, Worthless junk in my book forever.

I've owned numerous paras over the years. Single stack and wide body and currently have two LDAs. Never had a problem with any of them. Did have some problem with the Clinton capacity mags, but none with the pistols. The Tacs S and Companion LDAs are my carry guns.

My experience has been similar. I've owned and still own several Paras and currently carry a C6-45 LDA. Absolutely the best feeling stock trigger I've shot. Mine have been trouble free over thousands of rounds. I did have one mag fail to which Para replaced with 2 brand new ones no questions asked. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Thumbs down

I own a pcx745e 1911 and the trigger is pretty good but my concern is on the other parts like the sights that they are using, my front sights got loose 2x now and is being fix at the moment, last month or so the rear sight got loose also so..no problem with accuracy, and it will eat whatever ammo i feed her its just that darn sightskeep getting loose, yes para told me to send in the slide but it will take them 4 to 6 weeks to fix it...

I own a Para C7-45 LDA and love it!
I did have some problems with it not long after I bought it, but sent it to Para and they effected repairs and returned it to me within a couple days. Para customer service is second to none IMHO.

I carry mine very often and have had over 1000 trouble free rounds through it...needless to say, I trust my life, and that of my family, to it.

Regarding the LDA trigger, I have shot hundreds of guns over the years and this is the smoothest trigger I have ever had the pleasure to stroke...I wish my other guns could enjoy such a nice trigger.
