First 1911 New Kimber!!
Hey Guys,
I just got back from cabela's and I left with a new toy! I got a Kimber Custom Covert II. I knew that I wanted a 1911 but I wasn't sure if I made the right decision. anyone heard anything about these?(good or bad) I originally was going to get the Desert Warrior but actually liked the covert a little better. I guess now I'm gonna need a holster for it anything else? Thanks, Kris |

Kimber is a high dollar custom made gun... I want one, so what I am about to say is nothing bad about them!
I have heard that they are built too tight, and have problems at first.. Kimber says to break them in using 230 grain ball ammo.. Tehy say that you should clean them after every 100 rounds for the first 500 rounds then it will be broken in and should run perfectly.. You can find all that you want to know about them at m1911.org.. |

You'll hear a lot of "Kimber's not worth the money" around here... Ignore them, most them own that knock off Taurus 1911.... A Taurus is no Kimber, and the Kimber price tag is no Taurus... It's all what you want.
I own a Raptor II and it was well worth every cent I spent for it. Though I prefer to shoot my XD's in any kind of competition, it's by far the nicest gun I own.

There are way too many of them around for them to NOT be a good gun..

Kimber makes a great 1911, you should be happy with it. The Warrior does not have the "Series II" safety crap so I would have chose it but yours should be fine.
I've not had good luck with Kimber mags, in fact if you take it out and have some malfunctions with the factory mag don't panic until you've tried some others. I like Wilson 47Ds, expensive but they work for me. |

Congratulations on your purchase. I am sure you will be happy. After all it is a 1911!!! Shoot it, keep it clean and you will get many years of use out of it.
While I disagree Kimber 1911s are high dollar custom made guns, they are not pieces of junk either. Kimber guns are not custom. They are not "made to order" like something from Yost-Bonitz. Even my Les Baer is not a "custom made gun". It is one of their production models. Call me old fashion but I like my 1911s with a steel frame. Not to knock those with aluminum frames, I just prefer the weight of the all steel 1911.
