she is still on layaway..i wish i am like most of you who can just buy it right there..
I know wht you mean...
I once placed S&W Model 65 in lay-a-way. I put down $25 (so that guy next me who was interested will look elsewhere). i figure i'll pay it off sometimes...

Well, I had no patients, and went to pick it up the next day My GF was all sorts of pissed, as i told her i'll pay it off in like 3 months time.

Congrats, RIAs are good guns. Keep an eye on the recoil spring, mine was weak and I had to up the LB rating from a 16 to a 20 LB spring. Gun fires like a charm now.
Works as well as my Springfield. Be sure to post a report on it when you get it.

How much is your final cost..out-the-door? Is it priced differently than the 5" model?

I've read good things about the RIA 1911s.....and I believe they are the lowest cost 1911s available. I saw a "tactical" (I guess that was what it was....had a rail) for $420 brand new at a recent gun show. I would think a used RIA would be maybe mid to high $200s?

It would be interesting to compare a new SA GI model to the equivalent base RIA.....dollar to dollar, features, etc.

Either way, getting any 1911 at such a low price is either a bargain or the beginning of a very expensive habit!!! LOL

Peace,
D.

Torture test article on RIA 1911.....Pretty impressive! Tested along with a Kimber, a Wilson and a Daly (which I thought was the same as an RIA...guess not).

When first bit by the darn 1911bug, I (foolishly) went Kimber.
I now have a mildly pimped RIA Tactical which was less than 1/3rd the price of the Kimber and incomparably better.
Like my XD, every time I pull the trigger it goes bang and is super duper accurate and comfortable. Got mine from a place called Bellshire which was a pleasure to deal with.
Additionally, the RIA reps are 100% accessable on http://forum.m1911.org/
