![]() ![]() ![]() well so far i have put 300 to 400rds and i am very happy with it,accurate, nice trigger, i did have some jams when i first used it but nothing since then, good value for a 1911,stainless barrel ,beavertail, ambisafety, lower ejection post, heine sights, match trigger..i did not type reliable yet bec i still have to see how it handles a jhp, i usually run 100rds of jhps before i start carrying any of my 1911s |

Can't beat it for....
![]() For $499+ tax mine eats anything you put in it. The finish is a little weak, but nothing duracoat can't cure if it bothers you that much. I think it's the best value for the money....only problem I've had is not enough ammo for it!

I went through the PT-1911 phase when they first came out. They seemed like a decent deal for the money.
I wasn't real impressed with the overall quality, and got rid of it. My ambi-safety kept falling off. I know Taurus has a good warranty, but it was the second Taurus in as many years that I had that were giving me problems, and decided to cut my losses. Not a bash. Just a factual observation from my ownership experience with it. Granted, I did buy the first one to hit my dealer, and at that time Taurus was really scrambling to get them out to meet demand. I may just may have gotten a dud.

I own one and I have three friends who all have at least one of the PT1911s. All were purchased in the last 6 month and not one of us has had a problem with the gun. My best friend currently carries his as his primary carry gun.
I have about 150 rounds out of mine, mixed ball and JHP, and have had no problems. This is my first 1911 so I cannot speak as to comparisons of other makers, but I was impressed with the Taurus to buy one and have no regrets over it. |

My son wanted his first gun to be a 1911, and for the price and the history I have with Taurus firearms, I decided to buy the PT-1911, for him, this past Christmas. I changed out the grips to a nice pair of Cocobolo wood grips. He loves it. Since Christmas he has put several thousand rounds through it. It's accurate and reliable,

how does 599 plus the taxes sound for a new one with Night sights. I am not sure which ones as the clerk on the phone didn't know. I am about to get some serious overtime and think this might be the reason.

Sounds about average. If the sites were installed at the factory, they would be the Heinie Straight 8's. Tomball Pawn had some in stock a couple of weeks ago with factory night sites for that price. Almost bought it, but opted for a Sig GSR in the case next to it for only a little more.
