Fixed rear vs. adjustable rear

Guys,

I was looking on SA website at the 1911 loaded. I see some models have fixed low profile combat rear and some have adjustable rear. what are the advantages/disadvantages of a fixed rear or a adjustable rear?

Thanks.

It all depends on what you're using the gun for. If you're using it as a range or competition gun, I'd consider the adjustable sights since you can tune the pistol for accuracy with a particular ammunition and change the zero for the distance of what you're shooting at. If you're going to carry it I would suggest the fixed sights since there is the potential of the adjustable sights getting jarred and the point of aim changing at a critical moment. All in al though, adjustable vs fixed is kind of moot in most self defense scenarios since you're going to shoot in close proximity under stress and are likely to resort to point shooting. Ultimately this is a personal preference thing with no clear objective answer except man! Those loaded Springfields sure are pretty!!! cough* cough* in a purely manly way...

What he said. I prefer fixed because any of mine may get carried, but if I had one that would only be a range gun I might consider adjustable.
