I "pulled the trigger"...So to speak

I got a good deal on a Colt Commander (SS). It has the half-arse beavertial type grip safety Colt puts on them now. It is old enough to have the GI type sights (w/ white dot though). I thought it needed something more so I did some research and found SA's Custom Shop to be a really good deal vs. some of the smaller 1911 gunsmiths out there.

I contacted the custom shop and asked about the loaded package, etc. There is a mark where a previous owner did not know how to put in the slidestop. Deb there was very helpful and I sent of the pistol today. I am getting the loaded package done and a refinish (matte rounds and polish flats) on the SS as there are some handling marks.

The new Colt Commander's still come with the GI style sights except for the XSE's which have the Novak style. The first thing I do with colts is change out the ducktail grip with a beavertail.

Thanks SS, good to know.

I can't wait to see what it looks like when they are done.

Would it be considered a Hybrid after SA works on it? Can I get a tax break?

Ask Al Gore.

Plase post pics when you get it back. I'm very curious at SA's work on a colt. Not that I don't think they will do a job, just have not heard of it being done and am very interest in how the SA loaded package comes out on a colt.
