stainless shows less holster wear, the finish on the xd is not the finish that a 1911 will have, it won't hold up to sweat and wear as well.

Black/blued. It doesn't show up as much as a nice, shiny pistol. It won't shout "GUN!" in the event that a small part of it becomes uncovered while you are carrying. I don't want anyone to know I have a gun until.........

Stainless shows wear less, and you can polish out dings and scratches. Also much less prone to rust.

My Para is stainless, and i hardly ever carry it, but when there is some scratch on it, usually all i need to do is to get small amount of Mother's polish, and takes it right out.
My slide is mirror polished, and while is not most reliable, sure shines up nice. My SA1911 with black park shos alot of holster wear. But its all my use - sort of puts a character to the gun IMO |

That depends on if the stainless is bead blasted, etc. Stainless will definitely show holster wear if textured such as bead blasted and most stainless guns are in at least some places. Don't get me wrong, I like stainless a lot in fact more than blued or black, but stainless can be just as much as a pain in the butt about holster wear as anything else when it comes to holster wear or scratches and bead blasted stainless scratches easily. I had a Stainles colt XSE hard chromed because the bead blasted areas scratched easily. I have a S&W 1076 stainless that is sort of satin textured that has holster wear on it.
The point is expect stainless to show holster wear and scratches also. If that bothers you have it hard chromed and you won't have to worry about it any more.

Just split the difference and buy one in black stainless.
The SA Loaded Combat is a great example. Check it out! http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?model=8 |
