Gun Show Shopping

There is a gun show in a few weeks up in Hickory, NC and I was gonna go check it out.

I know I saw a link around here for what to look for on a used 1911 but I can't find it.

Any steals or models to look for at a show including pricing?

I know some of you love milspec, GI, etc.

Any magazines to look for or steer clear of?

I have found in my experience that most of the G.I. magazines for the 1911 are junk. Since the magazine is the primary area of functioning problems with a semi-automatic, it only makes sense to buy good quality magazines. This is especially true if you may need to call on that particular weapon to save your life.

Again, my personal experience with several different 1911s over the years brought me to Wilson Combat magazines. They are not cheap but they are 100% reliable and you can keep them loaded up without concern for the springs setting up. I am not saying Wilson Combat mags are the only good ones out there, its the one I have settled on and have relied on for years. Bottom line, don't buy cheap gun show magazines.
