STI Spartan
Anybody held, shot, own one?
I think I saw LovesToShoot saying he has 2 on Brian Eno's sight. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/inde...ST&f=3&t=42054 I do like the look of a stainless like a nice TRP but for half the cost I may be interested. |

I have a Spartan and it rocks. I took it to a local USPSA match last month, unfired, and ran over 200 rounds through it with zero problems. It feels good, the sights (LPA bomar style rear and fiber optic front) are awesome for the price point and it feels like a thousand dollar plus gun. My only issues with it are the trigger (STI stock, feels good but doesn't adjust much) and the stock grips. You may want to put a nicer set of grips on it as the stock ones feel a bit slick for my taste. I'll probably change out the orange fiber optic front with a green one and I want to add an S and A magwell. I'm also going to change out the trigger and have a slicked up job done. Frame to slide fit is great, but the finish needs wiping off regularly. It feels like a thick parkerized finish and tends to collect fingerprints easy. I also changed out the stock firing pin and recoil spring and put in a Wilson Combat bullet-proof pin with new spring. I'll probably change out the stock extractor later (after a few thousand rounds.

I have one too. I've only shot it once, but the sights needed adjusting (and I didn't have tools with me
The fit and finish on the gun are very nice. The trigger is decent and the adjustable sights are nice bonus. I swapped-out the factory fiber (yellow for some reason) with a red one. For me it's perfect. I'm also eyeing a magwell for it, but that's probably the only mod I'll do to mine other than grips. I have Hogue grips on my SA GI, so I'm kind of spoiled that way... I'll be ordering another set for the Spartan very soon. The Spartan is one helluva 1911 for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! |

I've swapped out triggers but mostly for cosmetic purposes. You can find longer or shorter (reach) triggers but most quality triggers perform equally well.

Here is my Spartan, Ive done a few things to it but not much. I did swap to a lighter main spring, tweaked the sear spring a bit and have a very nice 2 lb. trigger. I also swapped down to a 12.5 lb. recoil spring. I added a Dawson front sight, S&A magwell, Gatorback grips and refinished the frame for cosmetic reasons.
Mine will shoot one hole groups all day long and in over 1500 rounds has had one malfunction. The extracor slipped off the rim of a case. I fired another 40 rounds during another 2 courses of fire and not a problem. Im chalking it up to a bad case rim.
