Here is what you need to know: 1. Your firearms life as you know it is now over... you will never look at those other guns the same again. 2. Guns you used to shoot are now paper weights. 3. You will think about 1911s while sleeping, eating, and showering.... especially when showering 4. You will start looking at all the things you can buy for a 1911... stop it and get back to work... they don't pay you to look at 1911 porn. 5. You have been bitten... resistance is futile... you will be assimilated. 6. Each time you buy a new one (and you WILL buy several more), go back to step 1 and start again. Congrats!

Its still ongoing (until my 10day wait for the 1911 is over that is.. ) I CANT WAIT ANYMORE!!! ARRRGGGHHHH!!!! and its only been 3 days... ;( Are there any "must" upgrades of the bat?? I see I_Route mentioned getting a new barrel bushing... Thanks for all the comments guys. Clobber

Congrats, the 1911 is the all time classic handgun that shows no sign of death in its future.

When I first got the pistol it was shooting low. I mean like 18" @ 25 feet. I would have to aim slightly above the top of the NRA pistol target to hit the bottom [outside the black]. The trigger felt a little "gritty" as well.
Shipped it off the SA and about a week later I got it back. Says they replace the rear sight, [I am guessing it was the wrong one] adjusted the trigger, changed the barrel bushing and refinished the black stainless on the slide. I got it back and it was excellent. I decided to hand fit a bushing to get it even a little tighter than with the stock one. Just my personal preference. HTH

I got a PT1911 about a week ago and love it! The 1911 in most of its variations is awsome as you will find when you fire a 1911. I fired a friends Xd45 and had to have one. First autoloading handgun I ever had. Six months later, I shoot the same friends 1911 and had to have one. Have even looked at my XD since last week! Can't give any help on what to look for as I myself am new to the 1911 thing.

Yes! Another one!
I wouldn't do anything to it until you get about 500 rounds through it. See what you like and dislike about it, then make it your own. I just put another 200 through my Kimber the other day and found that I very much dislike the cutout in the grip for the mainspring housing pin. It digs in after just a few mags.

Lots of magazines and a reloader to keep up with the ammo you fire through it, next will be good leather to wrap it in, Desantis, Bianchi, Elpaso Saddlery, Kramer ect, you can never have enough holsters, A good belt to carry on is a must, I dont know if youve realised it yet but it can get heavy carrying it for a full day but a good quality belt & Holster and you wont hardly notice its there. I carry a full sized Kimber off duty and it goes un noticed.
