Handled but not fired

I have had the opportunity to check it out in gun store, and it is fitted loosely, both the slide and the barrel. Not like other 1911's of a higher caliber (sic).

Another dealer today said they come back to his shop also and that he has determined them to be very loose also.

If you buy one, turn it upside down and try to move the barrel within the slide and you will see what I mean.

Just my two cents worth, as a Taurus affectionado.

I had heard that they were mil spec. Someone on another forum claimed that he had a local smith measure every part, and they were in spec...

I have one on lay-a-way right now. I also shot my friends last night and I could shoot it better than my XD-45. If it were not for the PT1911, I would not have gotten into a 1911 gun.

I'm still holding out for the SS version. Has anyone spotted one yet?

I have one and any 1911 part will fit except the sights. The sights are Taurus manufactured Heine Straight 8 sights and appear to be a Taurus dovetail. All internal parts exchange with other 1911 parts. As far as being loose that can appear in any gun and does not necessarily have anything to due with accuracy. These guns shoot very well mine hold 1 1.5" group at 20 yards when benched. They are really a steal at the current price if $599 and you can find some lower. Unfortunately they are getting harder to obtain and are going up in price, I have seen used ones going for $700.

I think Taurus makes a decent weapon.... BUT, I see 1911's as artwork... The PT1911 is lower end in the world of 1911's... Sometimes, for price, that's good. But, I don't think I'd own one, personally.

I was looking at getting one but decided that I wasnt going to modify a 1911 much and opt'd for a Kimber instead. I still like the PTs and if I had to get a budget 1911 that would def be the one.
