Any gun you can get a good grip on you will be able to handle the recoil for. I have a small .38 spl, with +p's it's uncomfortable for me to shoot because I cannot get a very firm grip on it.

Actually I think I like the .45 more than my 9mm. The recoil is mild and I think my accuracy was good, although I couldnt tell since I was hitting a used target.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

My Dan Wesson Commander class Bobtail 45 recoils much more 'softly' than any 9mm I have ever shot, including XD, Sig, Glock, CZ75. The recoil is not as "snappy" as a 9mm. I like it so much I got rid of all my 9mm pistols except one and all my friends know I am NOT a recoil fan.

Don't forget to take good ear plugs with you.

The recoil isn't bad at all. My G/F is 5'5 110 pounds and shoots my kimber with no problem, and thats with factory loads.

But if u do get it, and the recoil is to much for (which it wont) then u can just reload with some semi wadcutters and 6 grains of universal clays.

Blake.

Don't ignore the Taurus PT1911.
I went to the big gun show this weekend with the intent of leaving with a 1911. A handled Kimbers, SA Loaded and milspec, Rock Island,Charles Daly, Sig, Colt and Taurus. I left with the Taurus and I think it's the best pistol I've bought, and I've been through a few. The Kimber Desert Warrior was a close second, but it cost over twice what I paid for the Taurus with the same features except for the rail and Gunners grips. The Heinie straight eight sites are great, and I'm considering them for my XD45Tac.
