New gun in the 45 arsenal

I just added a Taurus PT1911 to my Sig 220 and XD45. Out of the box this gun shoot really good. I put 200 rounds of mixed loads, 2 brands or factory 230gr. FMJ, 200g plated RN reloads, and the 200 SWC reloads that would not load in the Sig or the XD. It shot them all without a problem and the SWC had the tightest group.

I have 3 questions:

I don't care for the plastic factory grips, will the grips for Colt Govt. fit the PT1911?

How do you get the barel sleeve out? I followed the manual and the sleeve does not want to come out.

I don't really care for the Heine straight 8 sights. Can they be replace by any sights for 1911?

Well I have one of the PT1911's and it runs great also had it since last August, Any 1911 grip will fit it I have a set of VZ 320 grips on mine as for the sights I 'm not sure if there a standard cut on the slide or not I haven't gotten around to trying to change mine yet. but the barrel bushing is sometimes a bit difficult to remove just be patient and make sure you have it clocked to the correct side when removing it. Might want to check over on taurusarmed.net

I don't really care for the Heine straight 8 sights. Can they be replace by any sights for 1911? Built to govt specs. Any 1911 sights will fit.

Yes, the bushing can be a PITA. Three of mine came out easy, the last one broke at the groove where the flat-head screwdriver fits. I had to use a set of pliers to turn it the rest of the way out.

Good luck.
