LOOKY what I just ordered

Well I couldnt take it anymore. Ive owned an officer sized 1911 for close to 7 years now. I love it and carry it quite often but its not a full size . Last year I hade my STI 2011 built and its by far te most incredible gun I have ever owned or dreamed of owning. The 1911 is a gun that you cant hardly just own ONE of. Accuracy is fenominal and I dont know anyone thats owned or shot one that they didnt really fit.

Being that I shoot alot of USPSA matches and them having the Single Stack division, I've craved a full size 1911 with bushing barrel. Well, STI came out with a budget line 1911 finally. Everything I have read about it has been positive and for $594.00, how can you go wrong?

I finally broke down and called to order one today from Brazo's and they said its going to be MARCH ,possibly, before they get more in. I guess everyone has gobbled them up and STI ran out. They get their frames for this gun from Armscor, who is not based in the US and then they fit their own slides, barrels, and internals to them. My heart sunk but I went ahead and prepaid it so I will get one as soon as they arrive. As soon as its in my grubby little hands, Ill give a range report!

Make sure you have Brazos soften the slide cuts on the slide of your hands will bleed. They are like razor blade. Three guys I shoot with have the gun and I have seen it first-hand how bloody it can get.

Other than that, it seems to get a decent gun, although I assume you are taking a custom package from Brazos on the gun.

Don't be fooled. It is an STI, but not in the traditional/custom quality sense. It is a means for STI to get into the mid-market, to complete with SA, Kimber, etc.

Hmmmmmm, I have not heard this yet but I definately believe you. I wonder what he gets for softening them and refinishing the slide. I looked at the custom packages but I havent decided on one yet. They will call me when the gun comes in and I will decide then if I want to plop more cash down. I dont plan on shooting this gun full time, maybe a weekend match here or there, my true love is in Limited. Always thought it would be fun to play in IDPA on occasion too. My plans were to keep the gun stock with the exception of an S&A Magwell.

Thanks for the heads-up.

PS. DO you shoot your Pistol Gear gun? That sure was a good looker!

Oh, I'm not fooled. I know that you get what you pay for and $600 worth of STi isn't going to be the same as $2000 worth of STi...but I also believe that they aren't going to put a crap product out on the market.

Still, it is nice to see more options on the market. From what I understand though (which isn't much) STi is typically a competition gun and not something I'd carry for defense, which is why I'd personally steer clear (of course, I was looking for a "do everything" pistol, someday when I have more $$ that may change).

Oh contrair... http://www.stiguns.com/
This is no competition gun, I can assure you. They do make alot of competitio guns but they all so build high end 1911 and 1911 variants. My XD Sub may take a rde out the door someday to make room for this one.
A 9mm with 3.5" barrel and 7+1 load capacity.

STI definitely has non competition guns, but he mentions carry and the sights non the spartan are definitely not carry friendly.

For information Kabob it's an armscor/rock island with some sti parts and it's made in the philippines.

I'm with you on it not being a carry gun and for something with carry type sights whitakers lists the SA loaded for 673.99 in their new price list. To me the novak tritium night sights are worth the difference in price for carry. Buds is even cheaper when they have it in stock.

I misunderstood I guess... The Spartan would not be as carry friendly as say the SA Loaded. My Officers is a no longer made SA Lightweight Loaded model and it has Novaks on it. Great little gun that will also be in my collection.

Yep, he said "STi is typically a competition gun and not something I'd carry for defense, which is why I'd personally steer clear". I can relate to this because every pistol I get will double as a carry piece. Not everyone has the same needs though.

The Trojan is a nice carry friendly gun, but it's a different price range. The Ranger II is also for a cdr size.
