1927 Argentinian 1911

Anyone know much about these weapons? I had a chance to pick one up cheap, so I went ahead and spent the cash on it. It needs alot of TLC to get it back to fighting shape, but it should be a fun project. If anyone has any knowledge of these, please fill me in.

I've got a Sistema Colt from 1945. Great gun, needs a new trigger now though. I figure while it's down for that, couldn't hurt to re-spring it, maybe throw in a new barrel and link and send the slide off for a little coat job and night sights.

9) Colt M1911A1 Argentine Modelo 1927: S/N 1 to 10,000 = July 28, 1927 to Feb. 16, 1928 ( Marked on slide with " COLT CAL. 45 MOD. 1927" and S/N's stamped on top of slide in Colt's italic numbers.) SYST. COLT pistols made by Argentina under license from Colt marked on right of slide with "EJERCITO ARGENTINO / SIST. COLT CAL 11.25 mm. Model 1927". Other M1911A1 pistols made in Argentina at Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles, Rosario, Argentina S/N 10,001 to 112,000

I am going to change out all the springs and pins, and change out some of the old parts for some upgrades, then duracoat it for good measure.

Which night sights are you going to add? I have been debating on what sights to put back on it.

I love mine.

These were made on a Colt contract, under Colt supervision on Colt machinery by the Argentinian govt. They're very good pistols, although most look pretty worn out.

I have a 1953 made Sistema Colt that has "Buenes Aires Policia" markings. It needed springs and some extractor tensioning, but after that, it is a pretty good shooter. Not a target pistol, but at 15yds or less, I can hit "minute-of-Coke-can" with the thing most of the time. Reliable, too.

Sistemas have that old Colt quality to them - even the rattier looking ones. They're made of Swedish steel and are very hard and durable. Mine has a fairly smooth barrel that hardly has ny grooves left in the rifling, but don't let the sorry shape of a Sistema fool you. Many of these pistols shoot very well. Mine included.

Other than the ultra rare Norweigian M1914s, this was the only authorized Colt copy of the M1911.

I am starting to tear into mine now. Everything looks pretty well cared for considering. I am going to replace the barrel, it has seen it's best days. I am going to change out some small parts, and duracoat it. I bought it for a project gun, and I am going to have fun with it. I'll post some pics when I get it done. Did you take yours to a gunsmith, or did you tune it yourself?
Thanks for the reply.
