Kimber 22 Conversion for 1911

Does anyone have the kimber and use it with the SA Loaded 1911? i'm curious to know if it works. I read that the kimber 22 conversion only works with some/most 1911's. before dropping $300, i wanted to double check to see if it would work with my Springfield loaded.

thanks

nevermind...
i found a post where a guy asked the exact same question. But something else occured to me. if i got a 3# trigger job on my 1911, will i have a 3# trigger job when i have the 22 conversion slide on it. i'm not sure where the trigger job happens (on the trigger within the frame or up on the slide). not very familiar with 1911's or trigger jobs.

by the way, Midway has the kimber 22 conversion for $269 right now. $20 dollars off the original price. i plan on picking one up.

thanks

Trigger job is in the frame so no problems there. Plan on getting a few extra magazines too

I have a Kimber 22 kit for my S/A TRP Operator. And it works great on my pistol. The only thing I would have done is to gone with a American Arms kit. There's has a last shot hold open. The Kimber doesn't. The only thing I would do is get some paint for the front sight, Mine needed it to shoot in the indoor ranges. You'll have to watch what ammo you shoot, they are picky.

To answer you questoin, Yes the Kimber kit is a good kit.

Just got my kimber 22 conversion for my 1911 today. it's pretty slick. i didn't know that this thing didn't hve the slide lock on last shot. is the advantage arms version as quality as this one (heavy and well built)?

when i first felt it, it was really heavy. i thought to myself, "how on earth is a 22lr hv going to push this slide back". upon disassembly, i realized that the barrel has all the weight to give it a better feel but the slide weighs next to nothing. Is the Advantage Arms version similar?

I can't wait to shoot this thing. man, i'm sooo stoked on it. i bought a laser bore sighter too and tried it out with the 22 conversion slide and it was right on. You know where im' heading tonight.

thanks for your input guys. i'm not disappointed with the exception of the slide lock thing, but i'll get over it.

another question. why do they require the gun to have a half cock feature. i pull the slide back on the conversion slide and it sets the hammer back all the way. what gives?
