The XD trigger is quite similar to the 1911 AFTER Rich or Scott get done with it.
You're not going to be happy with anything if you expect 1911 trigger quality out of any other type of factory gun.

I see a more than a few XD's that folks end up putting a few bucks into. When they are fixed up folks really like them and they generally have less into them than most 1911's.

Ok, I'll bite.
What do they do to the XD trigger?? Its that 2 piece trigger that kills my trigger finger. It eats at it hard after only a few rounds. Is there anything that can be done to fix this trouble???? Because if so there's going to be 2 XD's on there way.

A lighter trigger pull helps a bunch and you can always chose to do the smooth trigger option if it is not going to be used in USPA Production. If it is going to be used in production you can smooth out the trigger safety and that should help.

To the original poster dafunk. I have 3 1911 pistols colts, smith and wesson etc. and IMHO a double stack pistol is harder to hold due to the width of the grip, also the trigger on an XD is horrible in my opinion...I have one and the take up is horrible it slaps and is just harder to shoot well with. all those things combined that make it hard to shoot the XD make it so much easier to shoot the 1911. The xd is a good self defense pistol, lots of rounds, striker fired and, accurate if you practice. What Knight forget to tell you about the Glock winner was that it was probably heavily modified to shoot competition. There is a reason after almost 100 years that people still look to John Moses Browning's design.....it works well and is a great design. Just my .02 cents.

Actually in order to compete at IPSC (International not USPSA) competition David Sevigny(the Glock guy) has to use a 5lb trigger or higher. He uses 6lb triggers and all stock parts because he is also a competitor in the GSSF(Glock Shooting Sports Foundation). InGSSF he need to have all stock parts in order from being DQ'd(disqualified) or bumped into a different division(where he would most likely win anyway). So since he started competing in 1997 he has been using a stock G34 with Warren Tactical competition sights and a 6lb trigger. His limited gun was slightly better using Glock parts and the trigger was sitting around 4lbs. Still very heavy for most limited guns.

Barry, IL ? In a game long dominated by traditional high-capacity variations of the 1911 pistol, David Sevigny has broken the paradigm, beating an all-comers field with his plastic-framed Glock 35. Except for a handful of aftermarket parts, his gun is a variation of the Glocks carried every day by the majority of American law enforcement officers.

The Glock?s light weight and relatively long-stroke trigger have been considered a serious disadvantage by shooters that cut their teeth on the 1911. However, David Sevigny and Julie Goloski have led a wave of Glock-wielding competitors in recent years, securing a string of ?Production? titles, and the men?s and ladies? Limited 10 titles in 2005. Goloski opted to compete for S&W this year (again winning the Ladies Limited 10 title), while Sevigny brought home the gold for Glock.

Limited is the most popular, and probably the most hotly-contested of all six USPSA divisions. Sevigny?s win here is a milestone for him, for Glock, and for the sport. (Sevigny is the first man to win a USPSA Limited title with a gun other than one based on the 1911 design.) Sevigny faced a formidable battle to out-distance the likes of past Limited champions Rob Leatham and Todd Jarrett, but it was past world junior champion Chris Tilley that emerged as the main competition. Going into the last stage of the last day, the four were all in a position to win. Sevigny?s smooth precision won the day, out-pacing Tilley by a scant 2.5 match points ? 1516.70 to 1514.35. So.......like I said it is not a stock pistol if it has aftermarket parts and yes it is modified, but not enough to dq him from the competition and he won by only the amount of points you see posted. IMHO a 1911 is a better platform all around. Floyd

Think I found MY problem

It isnt the gun at all. Its my crappy trigger control, BUT... with my wifes XD40 with the CC 5 pound trigger is GREAT. Shot it almost as well as the Kimber. That puts it LEAPES and BOUNDS ahead of my service model. Soon enough the CC trigger job will be on my pistol too.

I know that I should work to improve my trigger control, but I luv the trigger job. I seem to do better on guns with a real clean break.
