My new Kimber Tactical Pro II 4-inch

I picked this up the day after Christmas. Local shop / range had it in the counter and I had been lusting after it since I saw it on Christmas Eve. My wonderful wife told me I could go ahead and get it without being sent to live in the garage... so I did.

Up until now I had been using my Glock 23 as my CCW carry gun. After having shot 200 rds through the Kimber this evening, I think it's safe to say that my beloved Glock is now going to be spending more time in the vault here at home and the Kimber will be riding on my hip.

This is my first 1911 handgun and I'm sold 100% on it as the ideal self defense weapon for me.

I'm sure it stands to reason that we all enjoy our XDs but this Kimber fits my shooting style perfectly.

Sweet pistol, an excellent choice.

Brand new. That photo was taken this evening after I tore it down to clean and lube it after putting the first 200rds through it at the range.

Thanks for the kind words, all. I'll even take the grudging praise for it just being a 1911, vashooter.

There's an old Colt Gold Cup in the family, belonged to my grandfather and is now in my younger brother's possession. Somehow I missed the inheritance on that one when my dad divvied up the guns. I'll wait til he grows tired of it and then rescue and restore it.

I gave a hair over $900 for it, plus tax. List on it in the store was $1025.

Nice. Since you carried a Glock 23 as a CCW for a while and just switched to this, I highly suggest you start practicing your presentation with the Kimber...think "remember to disengage thumb safety". Get that muscle memory built up.

Indeed. I worked on that quite a bit yesterday and as soon as my C-TAC holster comes in, I'll drop a snap-cap into the chamber and practice it randomly around the house as well.
