My new piece

I picked this up Star Model BS today at Bill Goodman's Gun and Knife show for $240. I love 1911s, but when you can get a box of 100 winchester 9mm for $12, I decided to get the 9mm instead of the classic .45ACP. It's going to be used for target shooting rather than personal protection anyway, more or less a weekend toy. After taking off the grips I found all the stamp codes, and determined it's from 1968 (classic year for my favorite mopar muscle cars), so I'm pretty happy. I actually found another magazine for it too for $25. My cousin and I went to the range and fired off 100 rounds, no problems at all. Took it home, gave it a good cleaning.

I was just thinking about 9mm 1911's today, and that looks like a good one. Sounds like a good deal to me, but what do I know - I've never had a 1911 before!

Every acquisition is good though, right?

LOL, sorry about that. It's a little beat up, but how many things 38 years old dont have a few scars.

Nice 1911 I am starting to look at 9mm 1911's myself. a good year for mopars but sad year for the corvettes as they didnt come marked that year as the stingray. To me 67 was the end of the corvette era or maybe thats just because my old man has a 67.

Shoot them are just character marks on it. If it was mine it would get a sanding then sent to tripp for a hard chrome after I updated that old style safety. that is a piece of history .....good find
