Conceal XD SubCompact or SA-1911 Micro?

Does anyone have opinions on which is the better concealed carry pistol: the XD SubCompact or the SA-1911 Micro Compact?

I have an SA Micro Compact. It is too heavy for me to carry although it is a great little gun. I think I'd go with the XD Compact.

Love the Springfields, but XD's are King

I used to have a SA MicroCompact 1911 .45acp lightweight in OD green. The gun looked great with the OD green finish, the Novak night sights and the black rubber grips and accessories. However, the gun would not cycle HP ammo!!! FMJ ammo was not a problem and would run like crap through a goose, but the HP ammo would jam every 2-3 rounds. I had it sent back Springfield 2 times before I sold it and got a smaller version of my new favorite gun….. the XD40 subcompact! This little powerhouse will feed and shoot anything you give it with incredible accuracy for a 3” barrel. Just try one and you will see that it is one of the most reliable autoloaders you can buy!

i have heard the same things from a number of people with the feeding issues of the microcompact 1911.

i can tell you from first hand experence, the 1911 mc is a great version of the 1911, but it dose have some major issues! i personally want to have no questions of the gun i am going to CC and that is exactly why I switched to the XDSC40! great gun with as far as I can tell, NO feed issue like the MC! Not to mention that it is WAY to accurate for a 3" barrel and has plenty of stopping power if that is your concern! The 1911 is a great gun if you can open carry and use nothing less than a 4"

Don't be a wuss. Carry a fullsize 1911. I do and don't find it heavy. Just have to have the right belt and holster to distribute the weight evenly.

I've never been fond of ultra-compact 1911s. You always hear about reliability issues. Both conceal great but as far as "it works 100% of the time", I'd say go with the XD.

+1

Those micro compacts would be like carrying a cinder block inside your waist band. I would chose the XD out of the two.

If a sub 1911 is polished , throated and made to feed jhp or if you use the corbon Powrball ammo , I would not hesitate to carry it. Also if you run enough ball ammo in a sub 1911 to break it in it should feed jhp of some type at some point. An xd sub is a totally different animal. It is a double action, no real safety other than the grip and trigger and you could carry a round in the chamber and it would have an edge on the 1911 as far as weight and speed of putting it to use fairly quickly. That is why police generally use DAO pistols. they train with those and are quick to put into action, and carry plenty of ammo in a single mag. There is no simple answer that you seek. You ultimately will have to shoot both and try out both to figure it out. So why not buy one of each?? Floyd P.S. oh yes for you guys that are worried about all that extra weight.....the 1911 is a WHOLE 12 ounces heavier ..oooohhhhhhh. If you are that big a wuss go by a cap gun!

The XD is a single action. Also, 12 ounces is 3/4 of pound, and that makes a big difference.

I hate to disagree with you but A 1911 is a single action pistol and has a hammer. A XD has no hammer and the pull is like that of a DAO pistol. Quoted from a gun review for xd for competiotion>........Ultra Safety Assurance (USA-XD): <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 13.5pt">This is a Springfield XD trigger system, which does not fit into the above categories cleanly. Internally, it is classified as a single action. Yet externally, the XD operates very differently than typical pistols in the Single Action category that use short-stroke single action triggers and require a manual safety of some kind (see definition 1). That’s because the XD, just like the Glock, has the look and feel of an excellent, “safe double action trigger system with appropriate built in safeties” for the end user. <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">This system does NOT require a manual safety or decocker. In other words the BATFE classified it as a single action striker fired pistol , but we all know that a single action pistol is a lot easier to pull than this one !!! LOL So you are partially correct and if you re-read my post it said it is a double action which is technically wrong but it sure as heck is DA like. Also the poundage thing stands . Good lord.....g.i's carried this thing for miles and years and we are worried about a few ounces.what are ya a man or a mouse??
