Springfield EMP or Para's Hawg 9

OK, so I'm in the market for a (new) CCW in 9mm and I thought I narrowed my choice down to Springfield's new EMP. GREAT looking handgun but at a GREAT price ($985 ish). Then I stumbled upon Para Ordnance's hawg 9...same compact design and I like the astetics of the stainless finish controls against the blued finish of the frame and slide. Both companies offer lifetime warranties and I've read pluses and minuses towards each. Anyway, for sake of forum discussion and suggestion what'cha all think? Spend a grand for the EMP or save 300 and get the hawg 9? I know what plus for the hawg 9 is the high cap mag. Thanks for your thoughts.

i would go with the EMP ive never liked the hawg to much plus from things ive read like in gun test which compares guns they never liked it too much. I like para's just not the hawg. you could also look at the kimber aegis II which is a 9mm and just had a great review in guns&ammo and i saw it at the same price as the emp if the line wasnt so long i would have bought it this saturday but had to get for dinner.

Well the Hawg is gonna be about like an SC XD. It's too big for a pocket gun and too small for a CCL (IMO). If I wanted a micro gun, I'd probably go with a Kahr. My buddy has one and I shoot it better than I do a lot of full sized guns. Check those out, too.

I really like the Hawg 9 as well. I have heard that it is kind of a hit or miss with the whole hawg line. Although those who get a good Hawg absolutely love the thing and couldnt be happier. I dont know if I would trust the EMP just yet, as I havent heard much in the line of test or gun reports yet. I do want a micro 1911, and haqve been looking at the RIA line as an inexpensive option. My $.02.

I would go with the hawg because i don't like buying to many things the first go around. I personally have a taurus pt111 mill and i love it. It's small and very accurate

The new Para Carry in 9mm might be closer in comparison to the EMP. It's a single stack 9mm, double action only (LDA). I've had the 6.45 carry model for years and have never been disappointed.

Slim Hawg is the perfect carry gun. Depending on your preference. The Hawg 9 is a shooter but if your going to carry a gun that thick you could carry an alloy commander. IMO

Thanks for the suggestions and recommendations. I opted for the Springfield EMP and got it last week. Took it to the range and put 100 rounds of Winchester 115gr WB through it without a failure of any kind. Shot a consistent 6-10 inch group at 15 yards offhand without any problems. Also picked up a Gould & Goodrich Model 800 holster for it and the EMP fits the holster perfectly. I guess call it an early Christmas present for me from me

Not too pick but if you are shooting 6-10 inch groups off hand you have got a problem with having an accurate pistol....that sounds a little to much like a bad shooting pistol to me IMHO Floyd Personally I would have gone with the Para due to the beefed up extractor
