Need new 1911

I have a diease I have a black stainless and just orderd a 4 inch od. Now I need(o.k. really just want) another 1911. I'm in love with them. Any suiggestions on which to get up to around $800

That looks awesome, it's hard to tell with the massive slide but what size frame is that? I looks like an officer sized frame and I was assuming so because on SAs sight it says its 7+1 and I believe the Govt and Comm frames are 8+1 no?

time to decide...do you want a higher end 1911 or just a plinker? I would say, get a GI or MilSpec 1911 and then get some gunsmith work done to it and BAM you got another beauty on your hands! For another couple hundred $'s, you can buy a TRP or an MC Operator! Dang fine 1911's!

I know what you mean... my caspian 1911 is at the gunsmith for some "fun" work so I will be w/o it for 4-6 months... so I am also looking for another 1911 myself...my TRP OP is on backorder for another few months, my 1911 .22LR build should almost be done here soon!! ARRGGHHHH!!! In the meantime, my XD9 = my new best friend!

The best thing I have shot in the 800 dollar range was the Kimber Custom II and Stainless IIs. The Custom II runs about 650 and the Stainless II runs about 800 dollars. Very accurate, very well put together and the ones I shot were very reliable.

In that price range, I'd also look at the S&W 1911s and the Sig GSR Revolution that runs a bit over 900.

If you go crazy and want to spend more...theres always Wilson, Ed Brown, Rock River and Les Baer. Pick one....I am sure its hard to go wrong with one of those.

I love my Colt govt. model, stainless. But if I were buying a new one I'd probably go with a Milspec. SA makes excellent 1911s and they aren't priced so outrageous that a normal man can't afford them. Plus if you ever wanted to have any custom work done to it, you have a great platform to work with. Personally I love Colts, but in my neck of the woods they are horribly overpriced.

He did mine and I am very happy. I recently bought a used loaded to shoot and save the custom one and think that it is a lot of bang for the buck. Keep your eyes open, you'll get a lot of used 1911 for $800.
