Sig STX & Tac Ops 1911 differences?
Hi All. After reading some of the reports on the Sig Tac Ops 1911 here, I know that is a pistol I want. I've also looked at the Sig STX model. I know the differences with both pistols regarding finishes, rails vs n rail, etc, but are there any mechanical differences between the two? I REALLY lke the Tac Ops, but I'm not a huge fan of rails on 1911's (personal preference), and the STX is a nice alternative but I'm not crazy
of the two tone. I know I am picky. If I had a chance to buy either I still would. I think they are great guns. I've shot a Tac ops in the past and I liked it, never shot an STX. This would be a range/fun gun, so I'm not worried about holsters, lights, etc. I have enough guns for that.
Thanks

Besides all the cosmetic stuff and the rail, the STX has a match grade barrel and trigger/hammer group. That would be the main functional difference.

The tacops has a match grade barrel as well and similar trigger and hammer. Keep in mind there are also 2 tacops in 1911 sigs, the traditional like I have and the square top. The traditional has the rounded top, stainless frame, and skeleton trigger. The non traditional is a alloy frame, square top, and non skeleton trigger and I think is a little less money (on the street at least).
The STX is a beautiful gun and I was very tempted to go with it. They both have a magwell, which is something I like, but the STX has adjustable sights versus the tacops tritium night sights.
I'd say if you like the looks of the STX then go for it. I've only had my Sig for a few weeks now and shot maybe 150 rounds through it, but so far am very impressed with the tightness and overal quality of the gun.

Thanks everyone. I'd still get either, and I like Snaphook's TacOp's (tradiitonal) model A LOT. It all depends what I can find available @ LGS, if nothing, I'll seach the net, I'm sure I'll find them there. Take Care everyone!

No, it's not THAT traditional (HA). It's a pretty traditional 1911 but the extractor is external. What you get in the tacops with the traditional version is the stainless frame versus alloy and the rounded top versus square.

As far as I know all Sigs have the external ejector, but I may be wrong. One thing about Sig's is they have dozens of variants on everything.

extractor internal ejector
match grade barrel might be an improvement but I don't think any trigger for a 1911 is worth a darn 5 lbs are you frigging kidding me on a 1200 dollar pistol?
it needs a good aftermarket firing control group smith installed out of the box to make use of your investments full potential.

You're correct, extractor.
The gun was actually right at $1030, which for the quality of the build you get with Sig a very fair price in my opinion. I thought hard about the TRP but in the end went with Sig. The trigger is setlling in now that I have about 250 rounds through it and feels like it lightened up about a pound, but I still will likely get the trigger done at some point looking to get right to 3 - 3.5 lbs.
