Got a new .22 1911--but not just ANY .22!

What is it with me and RIA's?

I got rid of my RIA a couple weeks ago; the railed Tactical. It was my third, I like the guns, but...other things I want.

So...walk into my dealer today, and he says not a word; just hands me this nice, doublestack 1911.

Hmmm...RIA.

Nice trigger, adjustable sights...

But the bore is silly tiny.

I'm trying to figure out why in the world anyone would make a .22LR doublestack 1911, when it dawns on me...

This is the .22 TCM: 9mm necked down to .22--40gr bullet @ 2100fps.

(The "TCM" on the slide was kinda a clue, too...)

And, it comes with a replacement 9mm barrel & extractor. Uses Para-Ord 18rd 9mm mags.

So, I got another RIA.

And a .22TCM next to a 9mm Gold Dot.

I've also heard about that round and was very interested in it. Very cool.

The gun is beautiful. Congrats on the new purchase! Let us know how it does.

$650.

I think I'm going to contact Armscor/RIA and just get another 9mm slide fitted; seems that the POI/POA between the two cartridges is pretty extreme, and I don't feel like having to readjust the sights when I switch calibers.

Does this gun have the same flat recoil of the 5.7?

Also... How much is the ammo for that thing? lol

Very nice. What is the purpose of that cartridge. I'm not flaming I'm purely just curious I have never heard of it.

The .22TCM is supposed to be one heck of a flat shooting cartridge; recoil is supposed to be quite light. Jackrabbits, maybe.

It smokes the 5.7 out of a handgun.

Ammo is $25/50rds. The nice thing, though--send your brass back to them, and they'll reload it for slightly over half price of new ammo.

Really--I have a feeling the 9mm barrel will stay in it most of the time. I'd definitely use the 9mm barrel if I bring this into the defensive rotation.

It's kinda unique, though--that's why I picked it up.

Interesting so it's a competition round? And can you reload it yourself?
