Gushing praise for the Range Officer 1911?
Ok, guys. A friend of mine got to shoot the Range Officer recently and he flat fell in love with it. Would you care to share the great, the good and the ugly so I can pass it on and he can get on with getting the Range Officer 1911.

Great gun, although I'm not a fan of the factory sights, black on black. We upgraded the front to a Dawson Precision Fiber, they stock the special SA dovetail and height.

Yeah, he said the sights were a bit of a pain. Thanks for the info.

I've never shot one, but have fondled one many times. If they shoot as well as my Sig 1911s then it'd be a good buy.
I wouldn't mind having one.

I like it and all, but would rather much prefer the loaded model with a trigger job over the range officer

I have both the Range Officer and the 1911 Loaded in Parkerized with the Novak Night Sights. If you like adjustable target sights, then get the Range Officer. If you prefer fixed defensive style sights, then get the Loaded Model. There is no need to make one into the other when you can buy either, and have what you want right out of the box.

I agree with billt. When I was looking for my first 1911, the short list included the RO and the Loaded Parkerized. I went with the Loaded because of the sights. These eyes aint gettin' any younger, and I had concerns about picking up all-black sights in low light. Just my $.02.
