I went with a Springfield Loaded Parkerized for my first 1911. I liked everything about the Range Officer except the sights. They were a deal-killer. That's why I went with the Loaded. Couldn't be happier.

@Yocan You say it isn't pretty but I saw an RIA tac with hogue grips and it was sexy. Loved the black grips with the RIA parkerized finish.

Like I said earlier, the guys at the ria shop will take care of you if you have an issue.
Most of the guys that talk crap about them have never shot or even held one.

The RIA's are nice. I've got a Charles Daly out of the same plant before CD went belly up. For the price, it's hard to say no to. You can get some good mags and practice ammo for the price difference from the rest of your choices. And they have great customer service should you need to use it.
It's not like it'll be your last 1911 anyway.

As previously started unless I'm spending $3500 on a pistol Springfield is my choice.
