that said, if you feel so incilned do a complete tear down and clean the trigger bow, put grease on it, dry fire it 1000 times, repeat it will clean up the trigger pull a lot.
amazing price
not the greatest 1911 trigger but your getting twice the gun your paying for.

Yeah, I know it's a 5". Just wanted to check before I bought something. Thanks!
I might do the trigger by myself. After my debacle with the grip safety on my XDM I'm a little hesitant. Got the trigger kit in just fine, but when I finished and went around the gun to center pins, I accidentally popped the grip safety pin out. MAN, that thing is a bitch to get in. I'm going to have to send it to PRP.
But I'll probably at least give it a try on the RIA. There's a 'smith in town that works on 1911s. So if I have trouble I can go to him.

Cant go wrong with either Wilson or Chip McCorrmicks. ACT-Mag which is going to be your factory mag are generally good to go as well. I have some Kimber mags that have worked fine for me, but I hear they are hit or miss

Congrads on the 1911. I love them. I haven't personaly shot rock islands but I have herd nothing but good things. Also held a american tactical imports compact 1911. Felt just as good as a kimber or springfield. I herd rock island owns them but not sure.

if you want to take a go at it and polish the trigger bow, go for it, the self lubricating polishing tip from dremel is a very easy simple way to do so.
DO NOT TRY TO ADJUST THE SEAR/Hammer/sear spring you don't know what your doing

Once you get a 1911, nothing will compare to certain features of it.

I have the same pistol waiting for me at the FFL! I bought a pair of better sights to have installed on it and some Hogue grips.

I tried to get my FFL in touch with them, but the online place was closed. So he said he'd call again on Monday.
MAN, I can't wait! I'm not the most patient of people, that's for sure.
I've never even held an RIA. Are the triggers good? I mean, yeah, it's a 1911, but what's the trigger comparable to?
It's also my first .45. And to make it even better, I've never shot a .45. Yeah, yeah.
I just couldn't pass it up at that price! And I'm sure it won't be my last.

My RIA really likes the Kimber pro ss mags. Have not ever had an issue with my RIA since switching to the ss kimber mags and that was about 9,000 rnds ago. I recently replaced the GI sights with a cheap set of fusion series 70 spec'd sights, kind of a PIA to do yourself because of the staked front sight but with some patience and a dremel tool it's not too difficult. congrats on the 1911!

Well crap! I just got a surprise bill today and HAVE to pay it. Had to cancel the order. Looks like the 1911 is on hold. Again. Sometimes I hate being a responsible adult.
