New 1911 grips = cosmetic transformation!

I was amazed to see how a simple swapping out of the stock redwood grips on my SA Long Slide with a set of gnarley Hogue Extreme tribal flame grips really changed the whole look of the weapon. The grips were inspired by my 15-year-old son... tribal flames wouldn't have necessarily been my first choice for grip swapout, but... the 15-year-old kid (in me!) is starting to admit they do look pretty cool!

Original left vs. Hogue Extreme left:

I know tribal flames is not everyone's cup of tea, but the billet aluminum feels great in your hand, and they are also a pinch thinner than the stock wood grips. My girlfriend and 12-year-old daughter both claim they have a better hold on the weapon when they are at the range with me.

These are nice. I had a set built custom about 2 years ago.

It looks good, I'd say it's an improvement.
