1911 Tri-lema

I'm in a tri-lema about whether I should get a springfield GI parkerized a R1 or a low priced kimber. I have heard little on any of them, so anything from experience is helpful.

All are excellent firearms, that being said if your looking to get into the 1911 format I would suggest you get a Rock Island Armory Tactical to learn and play with. Super fine guns and very well built, best bang for the money in the market today. If those three are the only viable options in your mind I vote SA!

The SA and the R1 are hard to beat for the price and kimbers are great guns just more expensive, any of those 3 would be a good choice.

I'd go for the Kimber. They are 100% U.S. made and are high quality. I've had a couple Les Baer Customs that I sold because I prefer the Kimber, but that's just me.

I have no regrets about my R1. I would not pay the difference for a Kimber, in fact, wouldn't take one at an equal price.

Kimber or R1 SA GI's are overpriced IMO if your looking for an SA that will be a shooter get a range officer.

I have two Kimbers, both flawless, between the two I've set off 10k rounds of .45auto but, kinda sucks that they only offer a 1 yr warranty.

Check out the STI Spartan. It is on par with a Range Officer but weighs in at 600 bucks.

If at all possible I'd look at the Mil-Spec (not GI) and the R1 side by side and then choose. All 1911's have removable sights but some front sights are pinned in but any smith can change those out no problem. I'm not a fan of Kimbers, so yeah.
