I think mainly it's because John Moses Browning is from Utah. That's probably the main reason.

The 1911 Kool-Aid is by far the most delicious. I look forward to having my own. Soon... very very soon...
I've loved 1911s since learning to shoot on my pop's old Korean War-era Colt. The finish was warn to hell, the wood grips were darkened with age, the tolerances were loose; it had been well used and I was half afraid the thing would blow up in my face. The frame was too big for my young hands, it was heavy and hard to aim, and the damn thing bit me with every shot. And I fell in love with that gun.
