M1991a1??? Wtf?
ok so i got a colt 1911(my first) a couple weeks back(recently saw it was a 1991)
it was gifted to me so i couldn't tell you how much was paid.
Main question is, whats the difference???? ive ran about 500 through it so far, i did notice on the first 200, it started cycling slower and slower...... i fixed the issue with a jewelers file, but is this normal stuff?
Thank you much!

To be totally honest your post makes little to no since right now. Chill out right it out we have no idea what your talking about. fixed an issue with a jeweler file.... umm what was the issue? slowing cyclying time, what lube are you using..... whats the difference with what?
Seriously write a paragraph detailing everything and you'll get better responses.
couple things you should address for us, what lube are you using, what ammo, how many rounds, symptoms, and what you think is wrong and pictures thereof.

IIRC... (And it's arguable I'm going senile.) The 1991 series is a 1911, without the fluff and buff regular Colt 1911's receive at the factory. It would be similar to Springield's GI line, or similar to the difference between a S&W model 27 and 28.

sorry bout that.
The guide for the slide was very uneven, the slide was getting hung up in the front of the gun. i was wondering what the difference between a 1911 and a 1991 is, i understand the are both "1911s" but why the 1991 stamping???? the slide started moving A LOT slower than when i started shooting it. i was using federal 230 FMJ factory ammo. The lube i used on it was as follows, 1st cleaning was CLP after about 250 rounds. 2nd cleaning was hoppes after abot 150. 3rd cleaning i went to my go to lube for every firearm i own, Purple extreme.
The only thing that i can think of is that the slide is slightly "u" shaped as half of the cycle feels fine, has a tight spot, then its fine. i understand that there is the little pin on the top of the trigger group that has a little resistance. i do not have a picture of the parts at the moment but when i get home i will be posting some on here.
Thank you for the support.

from what i read, which sometimes is a bad thing, the 1991A1 is prone to feed issues, and had poor quality control. is the accurate?

I have a 1991. The fit and finish is perfect. It feeds just fine. I've shot hardball and HP with no problems. It was all factory ammo. Don't let anyone knock the 1991. It is an excellent pistol. Just my 2 cents.

did you get yours new? the "break in" period that every one talk about seems to be quite extended. did you have issues with yours being broken in?

A Colt shouldn't require a "break-in" period. Clean it up, lube it well and it should run fine out of the box. If it doesn't, there is something wrong with it and should be sent in for warranty repair. I'm sorry for your troubles.
