Kimber vs. Springfield again?
Kimber - 1 Year Warranty
Springfield - Lifetime Warranty
Are we clear?

Agree. Comparing an all steel bare bones gun to an aluminum upgraded carry model with a laser. Are you looking for a carry pistol? Range gun?

They both have a manual (thumb) safety.

From this thread
Kimber, ejector and service

Kimber only advertises a 1yr, but sounds like they are standing behind their product for as long as it takes. Who knows, maybe Diocoles' experience is not the norm, but I am starting to see more and more threads about Kimber providing service after the 1 yr warranty
Oh and good luck finding a 1911 without a manual safety... thats pretty much what makes a 1911. A 1911 is a single action, thumb safety, single stack all metal gun thats designed to be carried cocked, locked and ready to deliver 230 grains of pure awesomeness.
IMHO
just my 2c

Trying to salvage their reputation, perhaps?

I know it goes against the grain with all the errornet experts but I always thought the Mil-Spec was a dog. By the time you replace the crappy sights and the crappy two piece barrel you could have bought a pretty nice 1911.
