Kimber vs Springfield

I'd look more at the Custom II/TLE series, if you want a Kimber. For the money, this line has more features than the Springfield Loaded.

Both are close in price, but the TLE gives you front strap checkering and the excellent Meprolight night sights.

I have both Springer and Kimber and although both shoot very well...the Kimber had more features for the money and is more accurate.

I think that's why you've seen the "apples and oranges" comments. Personally, I see two purposes for the lower end 1911's - speaking generally, not just about Springfields:

1. Obtain the basic operational functionality of a 1911 at a relatively low cost; and/or

2. Obtain a platform for a 1911 project

I don't recall tons of threads on Springer 2 piece barrels coming apart...do you?

I can't speak for Springfield on their 1911's as I do not own one YET. I do however have a stainless Pro Carry II and an Crimson Ultra Carry II and both are fine guns. I don't plan on letting go of either.

The Pro Carry II had a slide stop issue and it is an older model. I called Kimber and talked about the problem, they sent me a slide stop in the mail, no questions asked. All they wanted was the serial number.

Definitely the Kimber. If you have the money you won't be disappointed. I've got over 1k rounds through my custom II with 0 issues.

I have a varied collection and I'd still have to say KIMBER.

TLE/II series with the modified frame for lights or whatever.
Night sights...so on.

The features are all there.

Kimber service I think depends on who ya get. Pretty good so far for me.

If you want for CCW, it's lightweight, slim and very accurate.

Between those two pistols, who knows. What are you using it for?

Springfield is hands down the better company, and with two comparable pistols I'll take SA every time. Nothing but problems from most of the Kimbers I've shot.
