I did a lot of research when I bought my Kimber last year.
I did 3 months of web surfing and reading about many brands of 1911 pistols.
In that research I always found many people said a lot of nice things about RIA - Rock Island Armory pistols.
So whenever someone starts a thread on an affordable or 1st 1911 purchase, I usually recommend RIA.
Well, today I took my own advice.
I had taken a Sig P239 in a trade a couple months ago.
I acquired it for a HD gun for the the wife and I.
But since I only carry my Kimber CDP (now the SA EMP) I no longer carry my Sig P239 SAS.
So it has made its way to the HD gun.
So I took the other P239 to the gun show and after about an hour a guy gave me $550 for it.
I was asking $600, so I did Ok with it.
I was cruising the rest of the show trying to sell my Kimber CDP and found the RIA Tactical in 9mm.
I've been wanting to buy one since last year.
I went back and forth on deciding if I wanted a 45 or 9mm RIA Tactical.
I stuck with 9mm.
I just can't afford 45 ACP right now, and since these guns are only $425 I can always buy another one in 45ACP in the future.
Already had one little problem with it.
When I stripped it down (my first bushing barrel) it came apart nicely, dripping with oil.
But when I went to put it back together, I couldn't get the spring plug to lock into the bushing.
When I turned the bushing, the plug just wouldn't go up all the way.
So I took it apart and did a little polishing, that fixed it.
It popped right in after that.
Still has little lint on it in the pic.
No big deal..
I'm trying to decide if I want to replace the FLGR with a GI plug type.
Anyway, I like it..
Gives me something to work on..
BTW, that dealer bought my Kimber CDP.
Almost gave me what I wanted for it.
Gave me enough to where it was worth it I wouldn't have to deal with selling it.
Everything worked out at the gunshow today..
