Anyone here fired both the Kimber Custom II and the Pro Carry II?

How much of a difference does the shorter 4" barrel make in terms of recoil and aiming the gun? I was set on the Custom II with night sights then i started browsing their site and came across the Pro TLE II/RL II. I currently have an XDm 3.8 so I have a shorter barrel gun for every day carry if I choose to carry. I've fired full size 1911's before and that's what I started out looking for but now I'm having second thoughts after I saw this Kimber. Anyone have thoughts either way? If you have experience with them can you please list a few pros and cons of each? Thanks!

I have shot a full size 1911 and I own/carry a Pro Carry II. I really can't tell much difference between the recoil or accuracy of the two. I did replace the factory spring with a Wolff XP spring (part # 32725) as it is recommended over the factory one. The 4" will probably have a full length guide rod and bushingless barrel and the 5" doesn't. The take down will be different, but to me the 4" is easier and quicker...you just have to use the supplied recoil spring capture tool (which looks like a bent paper clip ).

If you get the aluminum alloy frame/stainless slide version, it is recommended that you use a plastic skirted follower magazine so it will not scratch the inside. Otherwise, regular metal follower mags work fine.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy whichever one you decide on.

Personally, I like the shorter version, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks man! I'd like to make my decision soon because I was informed that there is a 6 month wait for kimber's now. Like I said I thought I wanted the custom II but when I saw that gun on their website I was like well **** now I like that one lol
