Springfield .40 cal 1911 - Does this exist or is it another bigfoot sighting?

I'm interested in getting a 1911 but I want one in .40cal. and I really would like it to be a Springfield. I have an xd40sc and love it. Now I would like a full size 1911.

The reason why I want a .40 is so I can keep stocking up on one kind of ammunition vs. two.

I know there are other .40cal 1911 produced but I haven't been able to find a Springfield version of it on its website if it exists.

Can any of you point me in the right direction or am I looking for "bigfoot?"

i believe you can get an EMP in .40. I don't know about the fullsize though.

There is the SA Trophy Match 1911 that comes in 40 cal but you will have to get one from SA as they are very rare to find.

SA dropped the .40 from their full size 1911 lineup a few years back. They are out there.

I don't think you will save that much buy trying to stock just one cal of ammo. At least not much when you talk .40 & .45. It would be a better savings if you were talking 9mm & 45.

I would just get a good 1911 in .45 and stock both types of ammo. That way you have a much better selection of 1911's to choose from.

Just my 2 cents.

If you are open to a Para, they used to have several models available in 40.

If you really want a .40 1911 by Springfield, and are prepared to spend a really pretty penny, you can call the custom shop and probably have one built. they claim they'll build you anything that you want that'll fit in a 1911 frame so i bet they'd do it but it would sure cost you. Just an option for you. good luck!

I wasn't aware they would customize a 1911 to that degree. I can only imagine how much that would set me back but I think I might look into it.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys. I'll be checking local stores where I live to see what they've seen come across their display cases in the past and see if I can't track one down that way.

If any of you in the DFW area know of something please pass on the info. I would love to know where to check out my options.

If you aren't opposed to a hi-cap, I know of one for sale and was built as a Limited gun.
