Taurus PT1911.........Any Bad Experiences?
Dollar for dollar I have decided that the PT1911 offers the most bang for the buck in the area of features. I have no idea about quality.
Can anyone give me feedback in regard to a pro or con statement about the reliability of the PT1911?

They have a reputation for being somewhat hit and miss as far as their quality.
Some people have them, have had good luck with them, and will swear by them.
Some people have had issues with them, and swear at them.
My own experience with them--I've never owned one, but have two friends that own/owned them. One of them is 100% reliable, runs great, is accurate, and a good pistol. The other...not so good; despite various mags, and a trip back to Taurus (and an adventure down the rabbit hole of Taurus's abysmal customer service), the pistol never ran reliably, and was promptly sold.

The only experience I have had with Taurus is I bought a revolver for my Dad about 15 years ago. It worked fine and no problems. I always thought they were a South American Smith & Wesson. They look good and if I knew I was going to get one of the good ones, I would get one myself. It seams like you hear good and bad about all of them, Kimbers, Colts, Sigs, Rock Islands, yes even Springfields.

I've handled & shot a PT1911, but never owned one... (I have however, owned 2 other Taurus pistols, and a Taurus revolver.)
my brutally honest opinion?
it'd make a fine range gun, but I'd never trust my life to ANY recent production Taurus, 1911 or otherwise...

The safety will fall off at some point in time. That is the only bad thing I can say about them.

Mine is a great gun. I only wish they had used a standard dovetail.
