BUL M5 Government .45ACP...NICE!

I picked up one of these used with two 10-rounders not long ago (my first 1911-type gun) and it is a fantastic piece of hardware for the price. I did have an annoying issue with FTRB on the last round of both mags and a few other small hiccups right after I got it. Those issues have all been resolved. I did a polish of the breechface, frame ramp, barrel throat (also slightly softened the throat/chamber area), inside the chamber, and the disconnector ramp and disconnector. Additionally, I modified the extractor so that it now has a gradual rounded lower wall and hook, adjusted the tension, then polished it.

This M5 is *very* accurate and the lockup is really tight. The only annoyance is the solid guide rod but it's not that big of a deal. It has the standard barrel with bushing.

The slide is a standard 70 series with an interesting "purplish-black" finish and standard black sights. Front serrations are included, but they don't bother me.

The BUL frame is comprised of a steel frame insert that is permanently moulded into a polymer grip/dustcover assembly. It has a great grip profile and fits my hand like a glove.

I just scored two more 13-round BUL mags on GB and am looking forward to receiving those soon.

Polished breechface:

$370 otd. I do have another $80 in ammo to get it tuned. And, $41 for the two mags won on GB.

Not bad, really.

That's a screaming deal.

Israel makes nice guns.

There's not many companies that make polymer framed 1911s. I know BUL, Wilson, and STI do but I can't think of any others.

If anyone's interested. this is a great deal. Charles Daly BUL M5 1911 pistol frame : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com $99 for a complete frame. Just need the slide assembly and barrel.

They used to. They discontinued it a few years back.
