Where do you buy a RIA?
I have been searching all over my area for a dealer and can't find one.
I would love to buy something locally, because dealing with an FFL seems like a total PITA to me, but it looks as if there is no other option.
Last gun show here there was only one guy with a few of them, and he seemed to be way over charging($5-600 for the GI)
Where have you all gotten yours?
or more importantly, do any Virginians have one for sale? i am willing to drive for a face to face transaction.

these guys have 1 : Pistol Parlour
i was just there yesterday. these guys are in mesa, az.
the price was $529
but it had a high ride beavertail grip safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger, decent wood double diamond checkered grips, and if memory serves it had 3 dot white sights.
all i remember when i held it was the fit was decent, from a quick look it didnt seem to have any manufacturing flaws. if i hadnt just purchased my 1911, i would have been all over that.
give 'em a call, they were pretty cool people, they might send you a couple of pics. if they wont for any reason, just let me know, i'll run down there for you and snap some for you.

I've been looking at a RIA for some time and these are the best overall deals that I can find. Belshire Guns on gunbroker.com. If you use the buy it now feature he'll pay the shipping. Gunbroker also has a list of FFL's. All you have to do is enter your state and you'll get a list of FFL's in your area. They usually have how much the FFL will charge to do the transfer as well. Good luck.
GI:
Rock Island 1911-A1 45 acp 5" LOOK 4 FREE SHIPPING : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com
My recommendation, The Tactical:
ROCK ISLAND TACTICAL 1911 45ACP PRICE LOWERED : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

after looking at the pictures of the tactical ria at gunbroker.com from the link redtree posted above, that looks just like the one i saw, it might have very well been a tactical.
mayo ,
that tactical piece at gunbroker ends its auction in 4 hours. there's no reserve on it. if i were you, i would be all over that piece.
have you ever shipped through ffl before? its not as bad as you think. its pretty much the same as buying at a store, pretty much the same paperwork and all. most ffl fee's are around $25-$40.
even the buy it now price is fair, and if you are the only bidder, man, you could probably steal that thing!
GO FOR IT!!!

They have their official dealers listed online.
Dealers and Distributors
You can also try Sarco Inc. They stock Rock Island Armory 1911s, and I know that you won't pay >$400 for their basic 1911.
Their November Ad lists the RIA GI models at $379.99 and the Tactical at $440.
Of course you'll have to pay shipping to a local dealer and transfer fees, but it beats paying some outrageous price.
Likewise, JG Sales stocks them as well but at a slightly higher cost.

Bellshireguns almost always has a good selection; GI's, Nickle plated, both Compact and FS Tacticals. Their BuyNow price includes shipping. Check out their list; good prices on Mossberg shotguns as well.

Where in Virginia are you located at ?? I am here at Virginia Beach and I know of some places that have the RIA / Citadel Compact and a Full Size model. I hope this helps. God Bless
