SA PB9151LP Question!!

Ok, folks. occasional lurker, first time poster.

i'm finally scratching the 1911 itch. will pick up my SA Mil-Spec SS 1911 sometime next week.

wondering what i need to be aware of right out of the box...lube (what is recommended), clean (what is recommended), typical ammo likes & dislikes, break-in procedure etc.

i appreciate any input i can get from the forum on these questions & any that i neglected to ask..

thanx in advance,
trailblazer

First , welcome. Second, no need to bold everything. Third, clean off the packing grease inside and out, keep everything that rubs wet with lube, and shoot the snot out out of it with ball ammo for a couple hundred rounds. Check to see if the ejector is pinned thru the left rail. Some that are assembled in the US are loctited, and tend to come loose. That, and a beaver tail grip may be all you need for a long time.

Here's mine:

Congrats, the Mil Spec is a fantastic value IMO, and a worthy base gun for just about any 1911 project.

Mil spec is my first 1911 as well. No problems at all....except learning how to take it down. The only think is that hammer bite tears my hand apart, so I have to wear a batting glove. But, I love it.
