For carry...have you considered a G29, that is close to that size.
Then you will have money left over to get the cbob.

To tell the honest truth it's hard to tell the difference between a Government and a full weight Commander. There's a slight difference in the slide length that causes problems for some people. But as far as the weight goes the difference is not that great.
youre points have intrigued me and made me do a little purpose searching.i started this quest not for a one of a kind custom that is too heavy to carry to bulky to conceal and too powerful to shoot........ i start out looking for a new ccw. i love my glock but it is a bit on the thick side. so enlight of your excellent points ive scraped having fusion build me a custom 10mm. ill get the cbob when fundage allows. till then im back to the roots of my search. 1911 concealed carry platform. and i have two favorites and one consideration.
STI guardian 9mm or 45 (another tough decision)
Dan Wesson CCO 45 only

and the one sucking hind tit is a citadel (armscor) officer and building it. in the end its gonna be about a grand no matter which way i go.
I really like the STI i already have one of there guns and lets just say it single handedly changed my mind about the 1911. i had nothing but bad experiences with prior ones. all rambling aside im leaning heavily toward the sti.

so sti and what caliber. i dont do 40 just 9mm or 45

SA used to make this gun...

Its a comander slide on an officers ALLOY frame. Its a light gun, compact and carries really easy for me. I have seen them out there but they are getting more and more rare. Look around and see if you can scavenge one up if you want a small reliable .45. I think it offers the best of all worlds and with aftermarket mags, your up to 7+1 with nothing protruding from the grip.

It was sold as Lightweight Compact. I bought mine new in the late 90's, not sure of the exact model number but I can look at the box later when I get home.

Im not a fan of the ultra compacts either. This is a gun I will NEVER sell and it gets alot of time away from home on my hip.

Im a big STI fan too so I would have to look hard at those as well.

My Spartan still runs like a raped ape and mine is slightly 2-tone. I refinished the frame shortly after I got it.
