I suppose since I'm here I'll toss my opinion in.

I don't own a Kimber, my brother does and his has never malfed at all.

Additionally guess which 1911 we make more holsters for than every other brand combined?
If you guessed Kimber, you would be right.

Anyhooo, carry on. Sorry for the interruption.
Thanks Mark, once again you've proven to be a class act!

I've had three Kimbers and four 1911's after the break in period I have had zero failures or malfunctions.

I've seen 5" jam.

I've seen, glocks, xd's S&W's Rugers, and even taurus and S&W revolvers malfunction, honestly past the break in my 1911's have never jamed ect.

where is that from? LAPD SWAT gets to clean their weapons inbetween every use..... not the reliability I want, and I've seen so many cops have jams and say "its a one time thing" that I don't trust their opinion of gear at all. I've put over 500 rounds down range in my custom II without cleaning and almost that many in a ultra carry II w/o cleaning and no jams.

last I heard Recon is still using the MEU made on right at the end of WWII frames and they have more than a couple thousand left and tried Kimbers said they didn't hold a candle to the stuff Marines can make. (not unexpected) they also use SOCOM pistols, and M9s depending on the situation.

SOCOM guys I know all use Meus/M9s and SOCOM pistols... never heard of a Kimber in the mix, care to back this up? When they were contemplating it, they put on parts from half a dozen other manufacturers, screw on rail, 2 piece guide rod, Ed brown beavertail, VERSION 1 safety!!!!!! yeah... thats a Kimber, no they used it as a base.and hey what do you know? they are using the MEUs again..

I've never seen or heard of a Marine using a Kimber in combat. My friend who is at OIC which shares the facilities with the special forces guys, has never seen a Kimber there either.... and wow that was a lot of testosterone.

This was after firing 120 rounds over the two previous weeks and not cleaning. When I took a class and fired 150 rounds in one day. My sig P6 I didn't know how to lube it failed to strip rounds after 135. a dot of CLP on both side and no issues. (CLP doesn't handle heat well, now I use rem dri lube or grease, and I've gone 250 rounds without cleaning and no issues over 6 weeks)

the 5" Kimber had 2 FTEs after 150, he shot 175 rounds or so.

Was it past the break in period? Properly lubed? I saw a glock 19 jam 5 times in one magaines worth of ammo.

The 4" colt shot 220 rounds never a problem.

I know its anecdotal but the colt he let me shoot was amazing (oh yeah, he had so much ammo for free from the federal government he gave me golden sabers to fire for free) best firing gun I've ever held. 2nd is my ruger P90.

I've seen SA Gis jam a lot. apparently they need their extractors tuned as well.

Only jams I've ever seen out of people I trust to clean their firearms correctly.

I don't understand some comments about using good ammo and not jamming. I've never seen defense loads jam... its the cheap low powered rounds that jam.
I think its imprortant to note that all manufacturers guns can have issues everything from a glock to a $2000 Kimber Custom Shop gun or an SA custom shop gun, I think you've offered a lot of info in your post and I apprechate you taking the time to articulate your points, please don't take my arguments as anything but continuing the conversation. I trust my Kimbers with my life because in my trials of over 3000 rounds I've not had one issue, they feed everything from cheap lead to $2 a round SD hallow points.

Wow...30 plus pages on people wondering if Kimbers are crap.

I KNEW this would re-open or surface again under a different name. Next to Glocks...there is nothing people love to piss on more around here than...you guessed it...Kimber. LOL

By now, the original poster has either been scared into buying something else of has bought a Kimber and (like a large number of us) has found out that they make a pretty decent 1911.

This issue is the new "9mm vs. 45" internet debate...no doubt about it.

LOL

Might as well keep this thread going instead of having a new one pop up.

You will find a lot of Kimber envy out there - it's always easier to run down a certain gun (usually w/o ever owning one)..
you'll find a lot of internet "experts" that are complete ding bats.

Does this look like crap? Now really.

I was actually hoping that the thread would die.

Well you can stop posting in it then or just unsubscribe lol. Just because you don't wanna talk about it anymore doesn't mean there aren't others who feel differently.
