First time I shot was with a Kimber Ultra Carry 2. Fired 25 rounds and it jammed 4 times. Stovepipes every time. Dunno, my arm was LOCKED. It wasn't me, it was the POS gun that had probably 60,000 rounds through it with little to no oil ever and no maintenance done ever.

Wow, you must have an f-ed up 1911. I've had two malfunctions in my Colt since 1995 (both were ammo-related), none in my MC Operator in the past two years and two in my 1911A1 that happened while I was tweaking the extractor.
I had so many failures in my XD-45 that I quit carrying it and sold it, and have had more than I can count in the Glocks and Sigs at work.
If you want to send it to me, I'll give it a look. What's it doing?

yeah, it's probably about that time. So far this thread is like
90% - "I own a Kimber or several Kimbers and have not had issues"
9% - "I have zero personal experience with Kimbers but my sister's bf's cousin was talking to a guy at the gun shop who said they're ****"
1% - "I have had issues with my Kimber"
Tis about right I'm in the 90%....

man, it's been so long since I've messed with it I couldn't tell you...
I tend to use most of my .45 ammo in the XD...
I might start tinkering with it again just because.
Mags and extractors tend to give the most problems. I'd start there, if I were you.

yeah...I'm wanting to say I swapped out a wilson combat extractor way back when I was 21...it still has the crappy no name "made in Italy" mags though.
might try some Wilsons there too....
think I'm gonna work on getting some more .45 ACP first though.
I think I put a 14 or 16 # Wolff recoil spring in it too as the factory was really weak and wouldn't drive the gun into battery at times.
